The Coquitlam River watershed is one of many watersheds on the north shore of the Fraser River’s lower reach in British Columbia’s Lower Mainland region. The watershed is part of the Kwikwetlem First Nation’s traditional territory and has been their home since time immemorial. A healthy future for the watershed is of the utmost importance.
The largest of the three Metro Vancouver watersheds having an area of 20,461 hectares. It is north of Coquitlam, east of Indian Arm and Buntzen Lake, and west of Coquitlam Mountain. Coquitlam Lake, a natural lake, is the reservoir for the Coquitlam watershed.
